Vivien Leigh: The Last Press Conference, at the Jermyn
Street Theatre, is a one-woman show which presents us with the actress in
1960: not quite at the end of her career, but in irrevocable decline. We
get to hear about her beginnings, her great parts, her marriages, her
ruthlessness, her charm, her mental illness.
Marcy Lafferty catches the dated actressy tones well,
without overdoing them: it is a touching performance, but an entertaining
one, too, with a fair supply of showbiz anecdote to spice it up.
